For this group of paintings, the materials and tools used followed, or did not follow the rules of Kashrut. For example, milk paint was used in several images. In some, I purchased the material and therefore could not verify if it was “Kosher.” In other paintings I made my own milk paint with Kosher milk. Another “treif,” or non-Kosher material that I used was cochineal red, a pigment made from beetles.
